Summer Vacation '08
Chicago, Home Of The Phantoms
So, we got back to Chicago on Sunday, June 1. Sadly, the Westin was booked up so we ended up staying at the Mariott down the street.
On the plus side, we had an actual suite so we were able to put Niklas in his own room. This led to much less standing and
staring on his part once we put him down to bed. The next day, Andrya had to make a return trip to the office, so Niklas
and decided to tourist it up but good.

We kicked things off with an early morning walk. This is Niklas's "I made you get up early" face.

It's not a touristy day without a trip to Navy Pier.

Niklas collects 2:00 for tripping.

And another 2:00 for roughing.

Abstract large-scale art and a Segway tour? Yeah, we're in Chicago alright.

Here are some more headless zombies.

They're everywhere! Run for your lives!.

Niklas lets Chicago know what's what.
After our early morning trip to Navy Pier, Niklas and I caught the Red Line down to Roosevelt and walked over to the
Aquarium. That was quite popular with Niklas. I was unable to take any pictures there as I was busy keeping Niklas
from climbing into the various tanks and whatnot. He particularly enjoyed the otters and the reef exhibit. We also saw
a bunch of penguins which caused me to laugh and clap my hands. We followed that up with a walk up the lakefront that
provided me with any number of opportunities to keep my son from jumping into the lake (success!). Also, we went
to Chipotle.
Once Andrya got back from work (and the dentist and the purse store), we pulled the ultimate tourist move by heading
back to Navy Pier for the second time in one day. Mock that though you must (I insist), it is a great place for kids
to run about. Plus, there's a Ferris Wheel.

Here's well-behaved Niklas.

And now, not so much. Hands and feet inside the car at all times, sir.

Here's the view from the Ferris Wheel.

And here is the Ferris Wheel itself. Neat.
And that about sums up our trip. All that was left was the smooth journey home.
